Suzanne is a chartered chemical engineer with more than 20 years of experience in the engineering consulting industry. She works as a Principal Process Engineer at Beca in Auckland and is the incoming Chair of the New Zealand Board of IChemE this year. Before entering consulting, Suzanne completed a PhD in Chemical and Materials Engineering, with her research titled 'the formation and fate of carbonyl sulfide in aluminium smelting'. In her consultancy career, she has supported clients by delivering projects in process safety, critical risk management, hazardous substances, and various areas of chemical and process engineering – from early design stages and process simulation to project and people management. Her work spans a broad range of industries including food and beverage, minerals and metals, chemicals and manufacturing, energy, pulp and paper, healthcare utilities, and water treatment.
