Overview

Labman Automation, based in Stokesley near Middlesbrough design and deliver automated systems for laboratories throughout the world.  These systems are used by companies such as Unilever, AkzoNobel, P&G, Syngenta, Bayer, GSK and others to accelerate the process of new product formulation.  The UK is a global centre for research and development of formulated products, particularly fast moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals and coatings, Labman’s products help support this.

Labman’s business and the role of automation in research will be presented, including high throughput systems for the formulation of paint and shampoo. The principals and current state of the art of automation in research will also be discussed.  The presentation aims to give an understanding of the challenges, tools, and processes of inventing a new chemical product and developing it to the point of manufacture.
