Overview
Join the debate as we ask whether more countries should follow in the footsteps of the Netherlands, and stop dosing residual chlorine or chloramine.
Learn what it took for the Netherlands to develop a water supply system that doesn’t need residual chlorine. Together we’ll explore the many advantages and disadvantages of this approach and discuss its application in other countries.
Speakers
Dr Jan Vreeburg, Principal Scientific Researcher, KWR Watercycle Research Institute
Jan is Principal Scientist in the field of Water Infrastructure. He was one of the fathers of the method for Reliability Assessment of drinking water supply, which is today embedded in the Drinking Water Act. He also developed the concept of self-cleaning distribution networks, the subject of his PhD thesis at TU Delft.
Professor Jeni Colbourn, Retired
Jeni's career spanned 28 years in the water industry followed by 12 years as the Chief Inspector of Drinking Water England and Wales. Her undergraduate degree was medical and environmental microbiology with biochemistry and physiology.

Dr Martin Currie, Water Quality & Treatment Consultant, Aqueum
Martin was chair of IChemE's Water SIG from 2006, stepping down on 25 April this year. He is a Water Quality & Treatment consultant and trainer with Aqueum, and founder of the andeye online conferencing platform.
