The Safety & Loss Prevention Special Interest Group published its newsletter approximately three times per year from 1993 to 2025. It featured previews and reports on events, plus news and articles of interest to members. From 2025 the newsletter has been superseded by articles published on our News page.
News articles for the SLP SIG website can be sent to specialinterestgroups@icheme.org. Please include a headline, short summary, the article and a suggested image (e.g. from Shutterstock).
The most recent newsletter editor was Helen Conlin (2020 – 2025), who remains an active member of the Safety and Loss Prevention Special Interest Group committee and participates in a range of other IChemE process safety volunteer activities including: co-chairing the Major Hazards Committee Process Safety Competence Project, organising S&LP SIG University Process Safety workshops, contributing to the Process Safety and Environmental Protection Journal Editorial Board and the Publications Medal Board of Assessors.
From 1999 to 2009, the newsletter was edited by John Bond. John's contribution to safety was considerable, covering many aspects of process safety and was sustained over many years. He was a long-serving member of IChemE's Loss Prevention Panel, and the Safety & Loss Prevention Special Interest Group commitee.
