Overview

Kausal believes companies across a range of industries will benefit from improved process monitoring. Their aim is to revolutionise process manufacturing by eliminating unplanned downtime through three key stages.

  • Detect: Advanced fault detection across your entire process, not just individual assets
  • Diagnose: Clear root cause analysis with actionable recommendations
  • Prevent: Stop problems before they impact production, saving time and money

It uses an engineering first AI approach and can lead to a 40% reduction in downtime, whilst capturing and preserving plant knowledge and reducing energy consumption - thereby improving sustainability.

Speaker

Louis Allen, Founder & CEO, Kausal

Louis was a PhD student in Chemical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. His PhD research pioneered an engineer-first approach to AI, creating explainable solutions that enhance industrial decision-making.

He then conducted market discovery through Innovate UK funding, developing solutions that translate complex process data into clear, actionable insights for manufacturers, and is now a founder of Kausal - bringing this technology to the market and process industries in particular.

As well as his PhD, Louis also has an MEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Sheffield and qualifications in programming and machine learning. He also did a Process Improvement Engineer Internship at Jacobs Douwe Egberts.
