Overview

The oil and gas industry, potentially one of the most hazardous sectors, calls for strict adherence to rigorous safety standards. Companies must ensure compliance with every regulation with zero margins of error. It's up to the safety managers to implement essential safety practices and controls on work sites. However, work zones covering large areas that are difficult to monitor in real-time compound their job. The lack of visibility into work zones also affects resource utilisation and cost optimisation.

In this case study, a system was deployed to provide a world-leading Edge AI and IoT platform that enables the oil and gas industry's digital transformation. The user was one of the world's leading provider of technology for reservoir characterisation, drilling, production, and processing to the oil and gas industry. They use production and integrated pore-to-pipeline solutions for hydrocarbon recovery that optimise reservoir performance. They wanted an intelligent asset solution that could help monitor compliance, manage resources and improve their clients’ efficiency safely and sustainably.

The user wanted to utilise video processing techniques to run real-time analysis on the feeds coming in from cameras placed around their clients' worksites to measure various parameters. Use cases include: Site safety, site intelligence, digitise gauge data, space utilisation, worksite safety, shale shaker performance, surface inspection and rig floor safety.
