- Location Online: 9:00 GMT. Duration 1 hour.
Overview
With water companies facing unprecedented fines and mounting pressure to reduce leakage and storm overflow pollution, the need for reliable, real-time flow monitoring has never been more urgent. Expanding flowmeter operability across clean and wastewater networks at an optimal total installed cost (TOTEX) is essential. Clamp-on ultrasonic metering offers a powerful, non-intrusive solution, but despite its advantages, scepticism remains due to its past reputation.
This presentation will explore the latest advancements in clamp-on ultrasonic metering and how UK Water companies have rigorously evaluated and optimised this technology. We’ll review key factors like meter specifications, installation best practices, and real-world vs. lab performance.
Key innovations discussed will include Advanced Meter Verification (AMV) for ongoing performance assurance and Flow Disturbance Correction Software for optimal results in complex pipe configurations.
Discover how clamp-on metering delivers low-TOTEX flow solutions and valuable asset management insights across all process industries.
Speaker
Andy Hammond, Director, Emerson
With over 30 years of experience in process instrumentation, Andy has been actively involved in delivering innovative flow measurement solutions across a wide range of process industries. From flow projects on North Sea oil and gas developments in the 1990s to implementing fiscal systems for Scotland’s iconic whisky industry, Andy has a diverse portfolio of measurement experience.
In 2012, he founded the UK subsidiary of FLEXIM GmbH, a leader in non-invasive clamp-on flow metering technology, which is now part of Emerson—one of the world’s top companies in process instrumentation. Since 2016, Andy has been actively involved in the UK & Ireland water industry, working to drive the adoption of clamp-on flow measurement as a key low-TOTEX solution for improving efficiency and reducing operational costs.
