Overview

This seminar, hosted by the Energy Community of Practice, explored the potential of direct air capture (DAC) technology to remove CO2 from the atmosphere, converting it into carbon-neutral synthetic fuels, or e-fuels.

David Surplus, Director of B9 Energy Storage, and Dawid Hanak, Professor at Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre, discussed the latest DAC projects and technologies aimed at enabling negative emissions. The production, applications, and challenges of scaling up e-fuels were also examined. Attendees gained critical insights into the role DAC and e-fuels can play in achieving net-zero emissions across hard-to-abate sectors like aviation and shipping.
