Interim committee
From October 2024 to April 2025, the SIG will be led by the Changing Future of Oil and Gas Project’s Working Group. In April 2025, the committee will be formally set up, with an annual meeting following election of the Chair, Treasurer and Secretary and recruitment of other committee members, seeking representation across regions, career stages and topic areas.
Steve Flynn
Chair
Steve spent 30 years working for oil and gas major BP in various technical and leadership positions, ultimately becoming BP Group Head of Risk Learning and Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE).
Ian Cook
UK lead
Ian is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and an energy business leader with over 12 years of international experience in oil and gas, low-carbon and renewable energy. His current focus is developing hydrogen production projects.
John Gunner
US lead
John is a Fellow of IChemE with over 25 years of international technical and managerial experience, including in the downstream, upstream, brownfield and greenfield projects, process safety and operations support.
Hasnor Hassaruddin Hashim
Malaysian representative
Hasnor currently leads the Process Simulation and Optimisation Team at GTS.
Zainab Kayat
Malaysia lead
Zainab is a member in the Leadership Group of the Energy COP and the Deputy Chair for the Board of IChemE Malaysia.
Mohammad Khankhara
Middle East/Africa lead
Mohammad is a Chartered Chemical Engineer, with over 28 years’ experience in oil and gas.
Greg Oates
Australia lead
Greg is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with 15 years of operations and design experience in oil and gas and other industries, including leading energy transition initiatives in the water and wastewater industry.
