Interested in steering UK food research direction or food education routes?

Following the successful inaugural ProFSET conference in November 2023 and representing 11 professional bodies, we now invite participation informative and output focussed workshops around providing a united informed voice to influence and support government, media and the public, and promoting the industry as an exciting career path and supporting the development, education and training of professionals.

During the day there will be a keynote from Stella Peace (Innovate UK interim Executive Chair) and an opportunity to tour RSSL and University of Reading facilities.

Workshop: Food research and our needs

Areas for discussion include TECHNOLOGY to identify what can and should be done to influence UK plc research direction, stimulating collaboration across the Food System to drive business growth by inspiring and unlocking innovations that make life better. FEASIBILITY in the areas of resource (carbon) measurement (carbon calculator) for unified reporting, harness advances in use of renewable energy, and new technologies, optimising water conservation, use and distribution across the Food System, food resilience mapping current and future production capability, map nutritional yield and quality to enable fast track regulation approval, healthier food options, accepted by and available to all consumers

Workshop: How to promote the food industry as an attractive career route?

Areas for discussion include EDUCATION (influencing secondary school curriculum to include ‘food’ in STEM subjects), ATTRACTION (promoting the industry as a career opportunity) and RETENTION (supporting development, education and training).
