Webinar: Modelling Distillation Columns: A Review
- Date From 18th June 2024
- Date To 18th June 2024
- Price Free of charge.
- Location Online: 18:00 BST. Duration: 1 hour.
Overview
The presentation covered modelling distillation columns using equilibrium approach and rate-based methodology and some general practices in modelling distillation columns for steady state and dynamic analysis. Examples from different industries were shared along with typical challenges that engineers face in trying to improve the match between column model predictions and process data. In addition, the importance of distillation column models in applications like real-time optimisation, process digital twins for training board operators, and evaluation of process dynamics were discussed.
Speaker
Kheng Lau
Kheng holds a PhD in chemical engineering from Iowa State University, USA. He has been involved in modelling work for over 30 years and working on column models covering chemicals/petchems/refining industries throughout his career. He joined BP after more than 10 years of delivering engineering services at a simulation software vendor. His application experience includes steady state and dynamic modelling in support of engineering analysis, real-time optimisation, and process digital twins for training operators.
