Overview
David Brown, former CEO of IChemE and Honorary Professor at Aston University, will give an overview of emergent areas where chemical engineering will play a crucial role in sustainable development. He will consider how the education sector needs to evolve to be prepared for the future, whilst not forgetting the fundamentals that are still a pillar of our discipline.
Following the presentation, join the Education Special Interest Group as they reflect on highlights from the last year and look forward to plans for the coming year.

David Brown, Honorary Professor, Aston University
David was IChemE’s Chief Executive from 2006 to 2016, during which the Institution saw steady growth and a strong increase in recruitment to universities. Since then he has worked with a wide range of universities, helping them improve links with industry, prepare students for employment and contribute to regional development. His work at Aston has included the development of chemical engineering in a new university in Oman and support for a degree apprenticeship programme.
