Overview
This talk was part of the post-CHEMECA Design Project Workshop on 28 September at Monash University. It covered the Chemical Product Design project at USNW Sydney and how it points to a possible future for the chemical engineering design project. The speaker also reflect on 10 years of teaching some form of this course and how his previous career at P&G influenced the course content.
The course is fairly unique in that students conceive, design, and develop an IP strategy and working prototype of a chemical product for food, cosmetic, advanced materials, or health care applications. They present their work to industry mentors and alumni after two semesters in a poster session and demonstrate their products to all.
