Overview

This webinar provides key technical concepts and philosophy behind successful scale-up of chemical processes and equipment. The participants will learn not only theories but also real examples so that they can adapt the scale-up knowledge to their own projects. You will also learn about common mistakes that others have made during scale-up, which will help you avoid making the same mistakes and increase your chances of being successful scale-up.

The key is how to understand which parameters are more important than the others in each scale-up case, and to prioritize to confirm only key issues during scale-up. How does one select which item not to do while still being successful in scale-up?

Another key point is how to strike an optimum balance between extremely invalidated theoretical modelling and extremely trial-and-error experiments. Using an optimum and systematic approach in between these 2 extremes is the key to successful and timely scale-up. How does one correctly design laboratory and pilot plant units that can fulfill the challenging needs of successful scale-up?

Speaker

Wiroon Tanthapanichakoon, Global R&D Co. Ltd

The speaker has worked closely with several world-class scale-up experts where he gained in-depth scale-up methodologies and know-how. He is being endorsed by Mr. Joseph Bonem, the author of a famous book “Chemical Projects Scale-Up” to be the selected partner instructor for his scale-up training course in Thailand and SE Asia.

The speaker has been trusted by clients from PTTGC, BIOTEC, SCG, etc. in Thailand to provide consultancy on several industrial projects including scale-up, scale-down, pilot plant design & engineering, and conceptual process design from lab research. He has been invited to teach in-house scale-up courses for engineers and researchers at PTTGC, IRPC, Chulalongkorn University, Petroleum & Petrochemical College (planned in 2020). He is currently a member of the technical advisor team for the multi-billion-baht pilot plant complex project at the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) in Wangchan, Rayong.
