Overview
With the UK Parliament joining many other national governments and international institutions in declaring a climate emergency, new impetus has been given to radical approaches which aim to reverse the damage caused by greenhouse gas emissions.
With the full support and participation of the physical chemist, Sir David King FRS, former Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister (2000 -2007) this important meeting will not only introduce tools and technologies which could repair the Earth's climate, but also outline the role for engineers if these ambitions are to be achieved.
Particular focus will be placed on Iron Salt Aerosol (ISA), a technique inspired by the Earth’s natural corrective mechanisms to stabilise its climate. Able to remove several greenhouse gases to cool areas beneath clouds, ISA would potentially help to refreeze the polar ice caps, amongst other positive effects.
