Overview

The Joint Chemical Engineering Committee (JCEC), Western Australia warmly welcomes you to the CO2 Research Facility Lab at the University of Western Australia.

The CO2 Lab is a world-class carbon-storage research facility and an important component of Australia’s national efforts to achieve a carbon-reduced resources and energy economy. The highly safe and state-of-the-art facility is used to teach the next generation of process engineers and other technical experts who may work on energy and industrial projects worldwide. This ensures UWA’s engineering students graduate with highly relevant skills and accredited training.

The CO2 Lab has various applications across the oil and gas industry, including:

  • natural gas processing
  • flow assurance
  • unconventional gas production
  • hydrates in nature.

Equipment within the facility includes:

  • autoclave
  • high-pressure and high-temperature densimeter
  • high pressure and high-temperature gravity absorption rig
  • high-pressure rheometer
  • micromechanical force apparatus
  • fluidised-bed reactor
  • georeactor.
