Overview

Change is inevitable. Change is when modification is required for an oil & gas production train, a refinery plant, chemicals plant or a manufacturing facility. Change may be necessary to improve operability, but could create hazardous scenarios if not properly managed, which may lead in construction / operation to injuries, equipment damage, production losses and environment impact.  Effective change management ensures that Health, Safety, and Environmental risks are identified and mitigated.

This event starts off with examples of past incidents where poor change management has led or contributed to incidents. We will explore key lessons learned to increase the awareness of Chemical Engineers to the potential effects of change, where can such changes may occur, the impacts of change and how to manage and mitigate effects on Projects. During the presentation we will differentiate between “change” and “development” and engage with the audience to carry out an exercise that will help shed more light on all the above discussed concepts.
