Overview

Using case studies Alex will outline examples of successful deployment of AM in process industries that increase efficiency, improve performance, and have long-term commercial viability.

Speaker

Alex Kingsbury, Consultant

Alex is a chemical engineer who has worked in metal additive technologies for several years. From metal powder production and part processing, to market analysis and business case development, Alex understands where metal additive technologies make sense for commercial applications.

Alex currently works as a consultant to business on metal additive manufacturing, providing expert technical advice, business analysis, and commercialisation strategy for businesses both locally and overseas. Formerly the Director of ‘Lab22’ at CSIRO - a metal additive manufacturing centre for industry access and research and development, Alex has experience in electron beam, laser, binder jetting and kinetic deposition additive technologies.

Alex has worked more broadly in metal technologies including additive manufacturing since 2011 and understands what it means to meaningfully connect industry to research and development activity. Together with AMTIL, a manufacturing association, Alex helped establish an industry network called the ‘Additive Manufacturing Hub’, a body representing the interests and concerns of additive manufacturing businesses in Australia. Alex is excited by the promise that additive manufacturing holds for the future of Australian manufacturing and is optimistic about the transition to advanced technologies currently taking place in the industry.

Alex graduated from RMIT with a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) in 2007 with 1st Class Honours.
