Overview

The annual meeting of the North West Member Group will be held at the University of Manchester, followed by our guest speaker Claudia Flavell-While, Director of the Learned Society at IChemE.

Prizes and certificates will be given to students in the last year of their chemical engineering career at the University of Manchester, in the areas of process safety, process integration and process design.

Catering

The annual meeting will be followed by a buffet dinner with the opportunity for networking.

As this event offers networking opportunities, there will be one hour available to stay in the venue after the event.

Speaker 

Claudia Flavell-While, Director, Learned Society, IChemE

Claudia is responsible for creating knowledge resources for members at IChemE. This spans the activities of IChemE’s special interest groups, a portfolio of publications, and projects to create specific resources in IChemE’s priority topic areas – energy and climate action; responsible production; food, health and wellbeing; water and sanitation; major hazards management; education; and digitalisation.

Claudia will introduce Engineering a Sustainable World: The Chemical Engineering Challenge, a report outlining what chemical engineers can do to achieve IChemE’s vision, engineering a sustainable world. Based on the input of IChemE members, the report informs chemical engineers at all career stages and in all sectors about how they can create societal benefits and help meet the challenges of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
