Milton Keynes (UK)
Hybrid: Why Fluid Mixing Processes are Important in the Process Industries
- Date From 29th January 2025
- Date To 29th January 2025
- Location Framatome Ltd, The Fluid Engineering Centre, College Road, Cranfield, Bedfordshire, MK43 0AJ
Overview
The importance of various fluid mixing processes and the benefits of carefully considering them early on in process development will be discussed. The outline includes why mixing matters and the consequences of poor mixing. The key mixing processes will be introduced and what mixing equipment is available for these processes.
In Framatome Ltd, the FMP Consortium investigates many mixing processes and reviews the data for different fluids and conditions. This links with the process development and scale-up of processes used in industry.
Speaker
Janaki Umashanker, Project Engineer, Framatome Limited
Janaki works as a project engineer for Framatome Ltd. She graduated in chemical engineering in 2017 from Aston University. While there she had a placement year as a process engineer intern followed by a permanent position at COTY, at a cosmetic manufacturing site where she was involved in moving products from Ireland to the UK and learned several skills involving project management and improving process efficiency.
After working at COTY, she studied shear and extensional rheology of well construction fluids for a PhD at Cambridge University and sponsored by Schlumberger. Here she developed her skills on rheology and the effect of contraction and expansion on the rheology of well construction fluids.
At Framatome Ltd, she works on several mixing processes for the fluid mixing processes (FMP) industrial consortium where the effects of viscosity are explored.
