Overview

This event is an opportunity for IChemE members to visit one of the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult (CGT Catapult) sites leading the UK’s developments in the biotechnology sector. CGT Catapult is an independent innovation and technology organisation committed to the advancement of life-changing therapies.

At the CGT Catapult Braintree Innovation Manufacturing Centre, there are GMP cleanroom modules, QC laboratories, warehousing, and teams to support the manufacturing innovation of cell and gene therapies. Through collaborations with academia, industry, and healthcare providers, the centre is at the core of developing new technologies that will accelerate GMP manufacturing operations at a clinical and commercial scale and help make therapies more accessible to patients.

There will be a tour of the Braintree facilities and presentations explaining the work ongoing at the site. A key development area for the site is the use of digital tools and on this tour, there will be the opportunity for IChemE members to discuss and share their experiences in this area with the members of the Braintree site team.
