James Sweeney
James is an electrical design engineer working for Anesco, a company that designs and develops wind and solar farms and battery energy storage projects. James has previously worked as an engineer for the commercial and industrial (C&I) and domestic rooftop solar sectors.
James is a Chemical Engineer by training, having completed a Bachelors degree and a PhD (in nano-scale tribology and lubrication) in Chemical Engineering before getting into the renewable energy sector. James has also completed 12 months’ postdoctoral research at University College London (UCL), where he was a member of the research groups of Professors Stavroula Balabani and Manish Tiwari. His research investigated particle suspension stability and non-Newtonian rheological behaviour of oral healthcare formulations.
In additional to his work as a member of the Learned Society Committee, James currently volunteers for IChemE as a member of the Net Zero Working Committee, and has previously collaborated with others as co-author of several articles for IChemE’s The Chemical Engineer (TCE) magazine.
