Billie Hiew
Dr Billie Hiew is as an Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia in chemical engineering programme. He obtained both his MEng (Hons) degree and PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, Malaysia.
Prior to joining in academia, Billie undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at Nanotechnology and Catalysis Research Centre (NANOCAT) at the University of Malaya, Malaysia, focusing on the mass production of nanomaterials for industrial application.
Currently, his research focuses on nanotechnology, advanced material development, environmental pollution control in aqueous and gaseous systems. His research also covers the recycling of agricultural and biowaste into value-added products such as bioplastic, biochar and activated carbon. His works contribute towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (3, 6, 7, 9, 12 and 13).
