Overview

The Energy Community of Practice (CoP) is aimed at IChemE members who are keen to share knowledge and best practice for energy intensive industry sectors as well as providing evidence-based advice on energy issues. The first meeting of the newly established Energy Community of Practice (previously known as the Energy Centre) took place allowing members to hear updates on the CoP’s working groups, the ongoing and upcoming activity, and meet the volunteers of the leadership group.

Speakers

Mark Apsey, Managing Director, Ameresco

Mark is Managing Director of Ameresco, UK and Chair of IChemE’s Energy Community of Practice.

Mark welcomed members to the meeting and provided a summary of recent activity, members of the Leadership Group and future work plans in development.

Mary Stewart, CEO, Energetics

Mary is CEO of Energetics, Australia, member of the Energy CoP Leadership Group and member of IChemE’s Delivery Against Climate Change Commitments Working Group.

Mary provided an overview of IChemE’s position statement on climate change and progress that has been made to deliver against the commitments made by IChemE.

Stefaan Simons, Emeritus Professor of Energy Systems, Brunel University

Stefaan is Emeritus Professor of Energy Systems at Brunel University London, Director of Innovation at Gridport Ltd, Director at Watt Tariff Ltd.

Stefaan provided an overview of IChemE’s activity at COP26 in Glasgow, November 2021 and a reflection on progress since he first represented IChemE at COP21 in Paris.
