Becoming an IChemE Trustee: want to know more before applying?
27th February 2018
As an IChemE Trustee you will be sharing your expertise and experiences and contributing to the advancement of the Institution and chemical engineering more generally. This voluntary position provides an opportunity to develop new skills, broaden your experience and help shape the future of IChemE for the benefit of society.
There’s just over a week left to submit your nomination for the Trustee places - Deputy President (to become President in 2019), Honorary Treasurer, Vice President (International), and Ordinary Member (three vacancies).
Last week Deputy President, Ken Rivers, and Immediate Past President, Jonathan Seville, gave two webinars on The role of a Trustee, which may help with your application. If you weren't able to attend you can watch the recording below.
We had a number of interesting questions during the webinar, so we’ve compiled them into a FAQs document on our website.
Remember to submit your nomination by the close of business on Friday 9 March 2018.
Visit the Council page on our website for more details on the nominations. There are several documents to guide members through the nominations process, including the role profiles, and the nomination form to fill in.
If we receive more nominations than vacancies, then a ballot of all Voting Members will commence during April. The successful candidates will take up their places on Council from the end of the AGM - held on 21 May 2018 at the IET, Savoy Place, London.
We hope you’ll nominate yourself for one of the roles and take the opportunity to play a vital part in enhancing the Institution.
Best of luck!
Not a Voting Member?
You may not be eligible for the roles outlined above, but you can still get involved. We’re currently in the process of gathering questions from the wider membership which we’ll ask prospective candidates once they are announced. Each candidate will be asked the same set of questions, depending on the role they have applied to.
All you need to do is send the following to communications@icheme.org by Monday 12 March:
- Your question
- Who you would like to answer (candidates for Deputy President, candidates for Honorary Treasurer, candidates for Vice President (International), candidates for Ordinary Member). Alternatively, if yours is a generic question please specify that it is for all nominees.
All questions will be put to prospective candidates anonymously.
