Volunteers and STEM Ambassadors
Inspiring 4 to 5-year-olds through story time in primary schools
Volunteers are invited to head into schools to inspire young children about the importance of considering sustainable solutions and taking small, positive and environmentally focused actions. The3Engineers’ engaging story books with fun, rhyming stories featuring a curious and adventurous girl named Scout, are a fantastic resource. Alongside a story book, you will be provided with plenty of information and support so you can set up a visit to your chosen school, read one of the story books, and run a short activity with the children.
Do I need any special skills?
You need to be comfortable reading a story to, and speaking with, young children aged 4-5 years in a school. You may already have a school in mind but hints and tips are provided to plan your visit.
Whilst the school will have safeguarding rules in place, it is important that you read through IChemE’s safeguarding guidance to familiarise yourself with your own responsibilities.
How do I get involved?
