Ginsberg and Lewis awarded new ambassador prize
27th March 2012
A retired chemical engineer who continues to share his passion for the subject with schoolchildren and a Trinidad based student who champions professional development locally have been jointly awarded the inaugural IChemE ambassador prize.
Tony Ginsberg and Laura Lewis (pictured) were confirmed as recipients of the new prize last week which recognises IChemE members that make a key contribution to the wellbeing of both the Institution and the profession.
Ginsberg was recognised for his role as a volunteer at a local primary school and for his work on IChemE’s careers campaign whynotchemeng where he regularly talks to student about the benefits of a career in chemical engineering.
Lewis, a chemical engineering student at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) was awarded the prize in recognition of her efforts to promote both IChemE and the profession to fellow students.
IChemE ceo David Brown says: “We rely on members volunteering their time and effort across a range of projects and campaigns. The contributions made by Tony and Laura were particularly noteworthy and demonstrate how chemical engineers, regardless of location or level of experience, can make a really important contribution.”
Ginsberg will be presented with his ambassador prize certificate at IChemE’s AGM in May whilst Lewis will receive her prize at the Institution’s conference on computer aided process engineering in London in June.
