Chemical engineering digitalisation conference returns for 2025

13th February 2025
IChemE is inviting abstract submissions for its Advances in the Digitalisation of the Process Industries conference, taking place on 16–17 October in Manchester, UK.
Returning after a four-year hiatus, the event is designed for engineering and process industry professionals working in cybersecurity/safety, digitalisation, information management, process automation, process control, process modelling and process simulation.
Confirmed plenary speakers include ARC Advisory Group Vice President Valentijn de Leeuw, and Raquel Torres, Vice President of UniversalAutomation.org, a not-for-profit independent association aimed at decoupling automation software from the hardware on which it executes.
The Conference Technical Committee will be co-chaired by Zaid Rawi (BP International) and Bhavik Mehta (Siemens Industry Software Ltd).
Rawi highlights the significant changes since the previous iteration of the event: "Digitalisation is driving greater productivity and efficiency while lowering costs in process industries and manufacturing. It's enabling companies to undergo Digital Transformation and progress toward Industry 4.0, with many already seeing the benefits. The conference will explore these technologies and their impact on the process industries.”
Key conference themes include: advanced process automation, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data management, digital risk management, digital twin technology, and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
Contributions are invited from both IChemE members and non-members. The call for content closes on 2 May 2025. IChemE members and speakers will benefit from reduced registration rates to attend the event.

What is chemical engineering?
Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, mathematics and economics in the process of turning raw materials into everyday, and more specialist, products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Energy, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the industry sectors and products where chemical engineering plays a central role.
IChemE
The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) advances chemical engineering's contribution for the benefit of society. We facilitate the development of chemical engineering professionals and provide connections to a powerful network of around 30,000 members in more than 100 countries.
We support our members in applying their expertise and experience to make an influential contribution to solving major global challenges, and are the only organisation permitted to award Chartered Chemical Engineer status and Professional Process Safety Engineer registration.
