Board of Trustees election
Nominations process
In accordance with By-law 85 and Regulations 1A.35 and 1A.36, nominations of suitably qualified members who are able to demonstrate to the Nominations Committee that they satisfy the requirements for the role, must be received by 09:30 GMT on 4 March 2025.
Nominations are to be submitted via the nomination form on the web-based platform hosted by election services provider Mi-Voice. This will include an election statement (200 words), a short CV, brief biographical details (300 words), a brief outline of the appropriate skills and expertise the candidate brings to the role (200 words), information on any other trusteeships held, a 2-3 minute video to set out the candidate's case for election to the membership, and a photograph. These documents will be shared with the voting membership as a part of the election process.
Each nomination must be supported by five Voting members, who may not nominate more than one candidate in the annual Trustee elections. No current Trustee is able to act as either a lead nominator or nominator for any nomination. A lead nominator must be identified, who may be contacted by the Nominations Committee for further information if required. Nominations must include the consent of the person nominated that they are willing to serve if elected.
The IChemE Nominations Committee, normally consisting of three members nominated by the Board of Trustees and three members nominated by Congress, will review the nominations and confirm the suitability of the candidates, having assessed them against the criteria contained in the role profiles.
The Nominations Committee reserve the right to contact candidates to ask supplemental questions or seek further clarification before making their final decision about a candidate’s suitability for the vacancy for which they have applied. The decisions of the Nominations Committee are final with no facility for appeal.
If more nominations than vacancies are received, then a ballot of all Voting members will commence at the end of April and the successful candidates will take up their places on the Board of Trustees with effect from the end of the AGM, which will be held on 10 June 2025.
Trustee induction sessions will be scheduled for all successful candidates ahead of the AGM.
